Day 13: Christmas

Christmas in July

It is very unusual even. In Latvia we don't write on t-shirts. But I like that special American tradition. I think that was made probably to unite us and our states. And we didn't need words, we only give our snow white t-shirts, and campers wrote on it their names and small cats, ponies and dogs. Because we want to remind people about us, our names, that we exist. And it is so beautiful idea, I think. That is my second t-shirt, and I try to have more names on it to remember about my friends and teachers. I'm so thankful for that opportunity. -Polina, LA

Quest for Signatures

Yesterday was a really cool day. We sang every state's favorite songs at Sing-a-Long. Also we finished our masterpieces (stories) in McKell's class. For example, our story was about dinosaurs who lived in Chernobyl, and it was really fun to write, and we hope read, too.

During the break Vlad #2 (biceps man) and I learned some tricks with spinners, so we're very cool now (actually, no, because we were just trying and need more practice). And the most interesting and unforgettable part was Christmas, signing our t-shirts. I enjoyed this time because it was just like the quest: you need to have all 100 signatures, so you have to be good at maths to count 'em (joking). -Artur, LA

Sing-a-Long

Yesterday was amazing day because there be Sing-a-Long. Every states in this day chose one song and sang it on stage. Our state chose "Yellow Submarine." The others chose "YMCA" and "We Didn't Start the Fire."

Also there were three birthdays, so we sang "Happy Birthday" for Kathy, Pasha, and Darina. At the end of Sing-a-Long all states sang "Chocolate Cookies," and after this song we ate Oreo cookies. It was very delicious! -Irena, Arianda & Laura, LA

In the Sing-a-Long our state was one of the states that participated. We sang the song "Yellow Submarine." For Christmas we were decorating our Christmas ornament and received our camp t-shirts which were signed by the camps' teachers, helpers and pupils. -Artis, LA

Christmas Party

Yesterday I liked Christmas party because we all take t-shirts of the camp and go to each other, for example I wrote my name on Anton's t-shirt, and he wrote on my t-shirt. Already we finished our books in California class. That was most amazing day in camp. -Alexander, LA

Yesterday was very busy day. We have a lot of things to do. We have been writing our story in McKell's class about dinosaurs. Also we have Sing-a-Long, where we were signing our favorite songs. And the biggest event was Christmas. We took white t-shirts and with markers started to sign other campers' t-shirts. My sign was "Vlad is Luv." I enjoyed this day very much! - Vlad #1, LA

T-Shirt Signing

Yesterday we had an event called t-shirt signing. We were given white t-shirts, went to auditorium with whole classrooms, and we were signing each others' t-shirts. There were a lot of signatures and the thing that I liked most is variety of the names as well as friendly atmosphere. -LA Homeroom

Yesterday I liked t-shirts because we all were united, and it was really fun. It was amazing to decorate Christmas wreath. I liked Sing-a-Long because our state was on the stage. It was engaging. -Anton, LA

Yesterday we had Christmas. It was very funny. We decorated sweaters and wreaths. Then we dressed white t-shirts, and we began signing our t-shirts then they became colored, like rainbows. -LA Homeroom
