Day 6: Clubs

On Monday afternoon we had different clubs. We played basketball with Zack and poker with Tom. While we were playing basketball everybody felt teamplay. It was really gripping! It was amazing to play 6 games with Tom and to lose them all! Mostly we liked communicating with other campers. Next time we want to play soccer. -Anton and Alexander, LA

We were playing card games with Sami. I learned a new game called "Egyptian War." This game is about reaction and some luck. I was the loudest player because in this game you can slam the cards to pick them up, I slammed them hard that every one in the class heard it. -Artis, LA

We were playing basketball with Zack. Me and Artur chose a team. Me and Artur playing good but Artur team has won. -Olgerts, LA

We learned a new poker game from Tom. It's called "7 Card No Peak." In this game you don't look at your cards. You flip them when you need it. Artis won once and Olgerts won five times. -Artis & Olgerts, LA
Students played Ultimate Frisbee with Tim.

Students made chocolate chip cookies with Kathy.

Students played acting games with Carrie and Sergei.

Day 6: Sing-a-Long

We were doing different activities during the camp yesterday. One of those activities is, for example, Sing-a-Long. We had one new song at Sing-a-Long. It was very easy and entertaining. We sang songs such as "Yellow Submarine," "Baby Shark," "You are My Sunshine," "We Didn't Start the Fire." Our state's favorite song is "Yellow Submarine" because when we sing it we feel cohesion between every single one of us. -LA Homeroom

Yesterday all campers together went to the auditorium to Sing-a-Long. We love that event more than all others. All teachers and campers sing together. We really love it because we like that funny and lovely music. When we sang we were like one strong person who can do everything, because when we are all together, it is a power.

But it isn't one (the only) reason why we love Sing-a-Long. We like it because we like singing and dancing. We clapped our hands, stamped our feet, and it is so funny and wonderful. Sing-a-long united us yesterday: helpers, campers, teachers. We think it is magic. -Laura & Polina, LA

Day 6: Camp Life

Yesterday our homeroom group was playing games with Zack. We were given a choice to choose a game. Our group played UNO and other classic cards. Most of the students didn't know how to play classic card games. So those who can play decided to teach others. They played some games so others understood and learned how to play this adorable game, seeing this process. We all had a good time! (It wasn't even useless!) -Masha & Arianda, LA

It is the seventh day of our camp, and we have already had many positive moments and emotions that will stay in our memories.  For example, we really enjoy nationals, clubs, games, friendship day, especially talking with American teachers. Also it is fun to feel how united we are when all 94 students and helpers with American and Latvian teachers sing together the same song. It is amazing! By the way, we would like to notice the school cafeteria's work. They cook really delicious meals, and unfortunately we can't enjoy it for a long time because they aren't big enough for us! 😀 -Artur & Vlad#2, LA

This day was amazing. We have 3 class activities, all of them were very interesting. First class we were was to find sigma, mean, median, and mode. The next was Carrie. We are playing roles from Romeo and Juliet. Irene was a musician, Lora was the Nurse, Arianda was Juliet and Masha was Romeo. It was amazing! In the ending, we were with McKell. We will write our story. Some of us write about friendship, some about aliens, but we were writing about horror--lovely story. We liked it, and the others liked it, too. We can't forget our homeroom activities. We are playing the game which is "Troangle." It is a very interesting and intellectual game. Finally, the day was amazing. We loved it very much and we say "Thanks" to Carrie, Tom and McKell for this day. -Laura & Irene, LA

Day 5: Reading & States Day

Reading

We were in Kathy's classroom when we had reading. We read about a boy who had two dogs and he saved his dog. this is a real story and that was really scary! Almost all story Kathy read to us, but also give boys to read.

States Day

On states day we learned about seven states: Minnesota, New York, California, Colorado, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Louisiana. In Zack's class we learned about Massachusetts history. We learned about the pilgrims and Plymouth. In Tom's class we talked about many interesting facts. The most interesting state was NY because we learned about American slang. How fun! We liked to find gold in California. In Colorado we looked at the Rocky Mountains on the map, and we learned about Pike's Peak. In Massachusetts we learned that basketball was invented in Springfield.

-MA Homeroom

In California students panned for gold like in the Gold Rush.
